Spicejet’s CFO Sanjeev Taneja Resigns, The Company Suffered A Loss Of 789 Crores In The June Quarter

SpiceJet’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Sanjeev Taneja has resigned from the post. Let us tell you, SpiceJet’s net loss has increased to Rs 789 crore in the June quarter.

New Delhi: SpiceJet’s net loss widened to Rs 789 crore in the June quarter, following which SpiceJet’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Sanjeev Taneja resigned from the post. Airline SpiceJet on Wednesday said the company’s Chief Financial Officer Sanjeev Taneja has resigned amid mounting losses and a rise in in-flight incidents. 

The airline reported a net loss of Rs 789 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, higher than a loss of Rs 729 crore in the year-ago period.

According to the company, the airline’s business has been badly hit due to record high fuel prices and depreciation of the rupee. SpiceJet said in a regulatory filing that total revenue for the quarter under review stood at Rs 2,478 crore, as against Rs 1,266 crore in the same quarter last year. 

Let us tell you, SpiceJet also had a loss of ₹ 458 crore in the quarter ended March. Earlier, the airline had a loss of ₹235.3 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2021.

SpiceJet employees get delayed
for the second consecutive month. At the same time, the company says that it has started paying salaries according to ‘grade’. 

SpiceJet employees on Wednesday claimed that there has been a delay in getting salaries for the month of July to other employees, including the crew members. He said that many employees have not even received ‘Form-16’ for the financial year 2021-22 yet.

An employee said, ‘Salary was received on time in June. Apart from this, the salary is not yet equal to the level of Kovid-19. The crew chief and first officers are still not getting even 50 percent of their pre-pandemic salary. 

Significantly, due to the pandemic and delay in getting salaries, many pilots of SpiceJet have resigned from the company in the last few months. This includes officers as well as the crew chief or captain of its Boeing 737 fleet.
