World Wrestling Championship: Bajrang, Vinesh Phogat Join Indian Wrestling Team


Vinesh Phogat, who won the gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, will lead the Indian women’s team at the World Wrestling Championships.

New Delhi: Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat are among the star Indian wrestlers named in the Indian squad for the World Wrestling Championships to be held in Belgrade, Serbia from September 10 to 18. Has gone. 

The Indian team was selected after selection trials at SAI’s training centers in Lucknow and Sonepat on Monday and Tuesday.

Vinesh will lead the women’s team, which won a gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games earlier this month. While the men’s freestyle team will have Olympic medalists Bajrang and Ravi Dahiya and 2019 World Championships silver winner Deepak Poonia. Bajrang (65kg), Ravi Dahiya (57kg) and Deepak Poonia (86kg), who won gold at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, were exempted from the trials.
