New Delhi: Top athletes like Muktar Edris of Ethiopia and Felix Kipkoech of Kenya will compete in the men’s elite section of the Delhi Half Marathon to be held on October 16.
Idris is a two-time world champion in the 5,000m, having finished fourth on his debut in the 2020 Delhi Half Marathon. In the women’s challenge, current 3,000m world indoor champion Lemlem Helu of Ethiopia, this year’s TCS World 10km Bengaluru winner Irine Cheptai and 10,000m 2018 Commonwealth champion Stella Chesang will be the top athletes.
The prize money for the Delhi Half Marathon, to be held on October 16 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, will be $268,000, a road race labeled World Athletics Elite. Equal prize money of $27,000 will be awarded to the International Elite winners in the men’s and women’s categories.
