The Expert Appraisal Committee under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recommended environment clearance for the Rs 10,000 crore expansion and debottlenecking plan of Reliance Industries Limited’s Hazira manufacturing block in Gujarat.

SURAT (Gujarat): The Expert Appraisal Committee under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has approved environment clearance for Rs 10,000 crore expansion and debottlenecking plan of Hazira manufacturing block of Reliance Industries Limited in Gujarat. is recommended. Under ‘debottlenecking’, production is increased from existing plants and equipment by improving processes and repairing equipment.

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) after a meeting on October 10 said that after extensive deliberations, the EAC recommends environmental clearance for the project. The Hazira plant of Mukesh Ambani’s company was started in 1991-92. It manufactures Monoethylene Glycol, Vinyl Chloride Monomer, Poly Vinyl Chloride and High Density Polyethylene. The details of the meeting said that the estimated cost of the project is Rs 10,000 crore. The capital cost of the EMP (Environmental Management Plan) will be Rs 790 crore and the recurring cost for the EMP, post project, will be Rs 47 crore per annum.
