Supreme Court Cancels Appointment Of Kerala Tech University Vice Chancellor

The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the Vice-Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University in Kerala, M.S. Rajshree’s appointment cancelled. Rajshree was appointed for a period of four years in 2019 and the setback comes at a time when she was only a few months away from retiring.

New Delhi: The apex court has ordered the Vice Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala, Ms. Rajshree’s appointment cancelled. His appointment was declared invalid as the crucial UGC norms for the appointments were not followed, as stated by PS. Sreejith’s petition states.

Let us tell you, Sreejith’s petition was rejected by the Kerala High Court in 2021. Talking to the media, Leader of Opposition V.D. Satisan said that he was saying the same thing. “When it comes to appointments, there is no system, as we often say, and it is the same with various universities,” said Satisan.

Friday’s developments came as a setback for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the form of the Kerala High Court. Friday’s developments have dealt a blow to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as the Kerala High Court and the state’s Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, the Vice Chancellor of the universities, have stopped the appointment of Priya Varghese, wife of Vijayan’s personal secretary, to a teaching post at Kannur University. Even the reappointment of Kannur University vice-chancellor Agopinatha Raveendran has become a hot topic of discussion in the state.
