An economically weaker man was allegedly not admitted to any hospital, both government and private, for dialysis in Telangana’s Karim Nagar. Later he had to take shelter in the crematorium where he died.

Karimnagar: A poor man in the city struggled to death due to lack of dialysis. He somehow recovered from the disease and went to live in the crematorium where he eventually died. According to locals and family members, Basavaraju Kankaiah (59), a resident of Dhobiwada, 49th Division of Karimnagar, had suffered kidney failure and was treated at hospitals in Hyderabad and Karimnagar.

He was undergoing dialysis at Karimnagar Government Hospital. Doctors at the government hospital advised him to go to a private hospital in the suburbs of the city and get an MRI done there. Even after visiting many hospitals, he could not get the MRI scan.

This further worsened his health. Later he went back to the government hospital where he was allegedly not treated. Eventually he was brought to a rented house, where the owner of the house did not agree. His daughter informed local corporator Kamaljit Kaur and divisional leader Sohan Singh about her financial condition.

Later he reached the crematorium in Alkapuri Colony on the evening of 28th of last month to stay there. Kankaiah’s daughter Swapna told that her father died the next day at 4 pm on the 29th. Kankaiah has two daughters, one of whom is disabled. They haven’t got any help so far. They have appealed to the government to help. Local corporator Kamaljit Kaur and leader Sohan Singh expressed grief.
