Illegal Sand Mining: ED Files Case Against Suspended IPS Rakesh Dubey, Summons Issued

Patna: The ED office located in the capital Patna has started action in the case of illegal sand mining. ECIR report has been registered against the then Bhojpur SP Rakesh Kumar Dubey in this matter. Which will be investigated under PMLA. It is said that summons has been issued against the then SP Rakesh Dubey in this case. Under this, the accused SP has been ordered to appear in the office within two weeks for questioning. According to special sources of ED, Rakesh Dubey has been called for questioning in the case of disproportionate income of Rs 2.55 crore. Here, the information is also that according to the rules of ED, after being found guilty in the investigation, the property of the SP will be confiscated.

ED action on the then SP: The then Bhojpur SP Rakesh Dubey was facing allegations of making huge money in the illegal sand mining case for the last several days. In this case, the ED involved in the investigation has called IPS Rakesh Dubey to the Patna office for questioning. ED’s Assistant Director Rajeev Ranjan has issued summons to Rakesh Dubey on this matter. According to this summon, he will have to face the questioning by appearing in the ED office in the next two weeks. While the ED has not disclosed the exact dates of the production.

Promotion in IPS cadre in 2020: According to the information, Rakesh Dubey, who was an officer of Bihar Police Service, was promoted in the IPS cadre in the year 2020. Along with this, he was made the new SP of Bhojpur in 2021. Along with this, he is being accused that he has earned a lot in illegal sand mining. Whose investigation is going on for many days. For this, the state government had entrusted the task of investigation to the Economic Offenses Unit.

Large amount of illegal earnings: Under this, the Economic Offenses Unit found in its investigation that Rakesh Dubey had made a large amount of illegal income in connivance with the sand mafia. The ED alleges against the SP that the then SP Rakesh Dubey has done the work of giving protection to many sand mafias. After this, in September 2021, the Economic Offenses Unit started action against SP Rakesh Dubey by registering disproportionate assets (DA case).

SP working without withdrawing salary: In the investigation of ED, a big thing came out that in the investigation of Economic Offenses Unit, it was found that Rakesh Dubey has never withdrawn salary from his bank account during his service. According to the Economic Offenses Unit, IPS Rakesh Dubey has bought hotels, houses, flats and many plots of land at many places in Jharkhand apart from Patna and Noida with illegal earnings. SP has also invested black money in the company of some builders in Patna. ED’s investigation in this matter has not been completed yet. Meanwhile, the Economic Offenses Unit of the Bihar government had recommended action to the ED.
