Shimla police has succeeded in catching drugs worth Rs 3 lakh in 24 hours. Police has arrested 5 smugglers in four cases. From whom opium and chitta have been recovered.
Shimla: Himachal’s Shimla Police has succeeded in catching 3 lakh drugs in the last 24 hours. In Theog, the police have caught a consignment of chitta and opium, the value of which has been estimated at Rs 3 lakh in the market. The police have caught the local people on the charges of drug smuggling. A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act.
According to the information received from the police, in Theog, the police have arrested two people with chitta and opium in different cases. In the first case, the police recovered 55 grams of chitta from 44-year-old Kamal Sharma Acharya, a resident of Tanakpur, Uttarakhand. On the other hand, in another case, the police recovered 23.88 grams of opium from Mohanlal of Kathal village of Sandhu Panchayat. Theog’s sub-divisional police officer Siddharth Sharma said that interrogation of the accused in both the cases is going on.
Apart from this, 4.52 grams of chitta has been recovered from two youths riding in an Alto car on Bhekhalti Mashobra road under Fagu police post in Yog area. On checking during police patrolling, letters were recovered from 35-year-old Harish Verma and 37-year-old Ankit Kumar of Kelvi Panchayat. At the same time, the special team of Shimla Police has recovered 23.88 grams of opium from a person during patrolling near Khachi Mod of Theog. The accused has been identified as Mohan Lal. He is a resident of Theog.
